Africa Peace and Environment Summit (APES)

People and the planet are one yet for the longest time people have seen themselves separate from the planet earth: our common home. As a result, people have destroyed the planet earth oblivious of the fact that as they destroy the planet they are also destroying themselves. Hence, a degraded world and an equally degraded people because the planet mirrors the people. Our planet, our common home, is in peril and so are we.

Peace signifies the holistic well-being of both people and the planet. From the beginning of creation, people lived in harmony with nature. There was a balance where all beings coexisted peacefully. However, as time progressed, destructive human actions such as over exploitation of resources and degradation have pushed our planet to the brink. This has resulted in conflict, insecurities, pandemics, climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. The outcome is a state of peacelessness.

Harmony Institute is proud to be a part of this initiative, recognising the profound connection between environmental stewardship and peacebuilding. By fostering collaboration among diverse communities and organisations, the summit aims to address the complex interplay between ecological preservation and conflict resolution. Through shared knowledge, innovative solutions, and collective action, we aspire to cultivate an Africa where harmony with nature and peaceful coexistence go hand in hand.

The Africa Peace and Environment Summit (APES 2) aims to rally people to return to harmony and wellness where people and the planet are one.
